Depth Vector

Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 2, 2026

Klein Outdoors, LLC, doing business as Depth Vector ("we," "our," or "us") provides the Depth Vector mobile app and depth-vector.com. We are based in Minnesota, United States of America. This policy explains what information is used, where it goes, and the choices you have.

The Short Version

Your Fishing Records

Gear, saved spreads, trip records, tuning observations, and settings are stored in the app on your device. Trip records can include speed summaries and weather readings. They do not include a GPS route or precise coordinates. If you choose optional sharing, the limited information described below may be sent separately.

Location And Weather

With your permission, the app uses location while it is in use to calculate live trolling speed. You can enter speed manually instead. Depth Vector does not save or send the precise location fixes used for speed.

If you choose Current Location for weather, the app rounds latitude and longitude to 0.1 degrees before sending them to our weather service provider. The precise fix is discarded. The app does not save coordinates from Current Location weather requests.

If you search for a town, lake, or ZIP code, our weather service provider receives your search text. A selected public place, its rounded coordinates, and cached weather may be saved on your device for reuse. Its public label may appear in your trip log. Weather requests use rounded coordinates for both selected places and Current Location.

Trials, Accounts, And Purchases

When a trial, membership, or optional sharing feature needs our online service, the app creates an account identified by a random code. Account access information is stored securely on your device.

Trial records can include the service account identifier, the identifier of the trip that starts the trial, the activation time, the expiration time, and access grants or redeemed offers. These records help administer access and prevent repeated trial activation. A trip identifier is not a copy of your trip log or fishing location.

Before store subscriptions are available, you must verify a recovery email. This email helps you recover the purchase account after reinstalling. It is used for account access and essential account messages, not marketing. The app does not send it to our purchase management or crash reporting providers.

Apple or Google processes store purchases. Our purchase management provider receives an app user identifier that does not include your name or email and purchase information, including product, transaction, access status, and renewal dates, to manage and restore access. Depth Vector does not receive or store your payment card number.

Optional Sharing

In Settings, then Data Sharing, you can separately choose whether to share app usage and tuning observations. These choices are optional. The app may send a random installation identifier and a record of your choice, including a refusal or later change, so the service can honor it.

If you enable sharing, the selected feature outcomes, summary counts, or tuning observations may be sent to our online service to help improve the app and its depth calculations. The shared information excludes fishing coordinates, routes, names, notes, access codes, and advertising identifiers.

Turning sharing off stops later uploads for that choice. It does not automatically erase information already received. You can use the account deletion control or contact us about information previously shared.

Diagnostics And Network Information

When crash reporting is enabled for the app release, our crash reporting provider receives reports with personal details removed to help us fix failures. These can include technical details about the failure with personal details removed, app version, device model, operating system version, and event time. Reports exclude error messages, account identity, network request details, screenshots, interaction trails, fishing records, places, coordinates, routes, and notes.

Our service can also record why an upload failed, together with its time, installation identifier when available, app version, platform, and limited diagnostic codes. These records help diagnose delivery problems.

When you connect to a provider, it receives network information such as your IP address and may process browser or device details for security, logging, and service operation. This is separate from the precise GPS coordinates that the app does not send.

The Website And Support

Our website host may log your IP address, browser details, and requested pages. The website does not use advertising trackers.

If you email us, we receive your email address and the message or attachments you choose to send. We use them to answer your request. Please avoid sending precise fishing locations, passwords, sign in codes, or payment card details.

How We Use Information

We use information to provide the features you choose, administer trials and purchases, restore account access, honor sharing choices, diagnose problems, improve the app, prevent abuse, and respond to support or privacy requests. We do not use it for advertising or sell or rent it.

Service Providers

These providers process information needed for their services under their applicable agreements and privacy policies.

Anonymous Website Metrics

Our public website records daily aggregate measurements so we can understand which pages people use, which approved links they select, and how the site performs. Measurements can include the public page, link destination, page section, external referrer host, coarse device and browser class, base language, two letter country code, navigation timing, page performance, active seconds, page duration, and maximum scroll depth.

The website does not use cookies, browser storage, persistent identifiers, fingerprints, advertising identifiers, or cross visit profiles for these measurements. We do not store network addresses, raw user agents, incoming query strings, form values, email addresses, or full referrer URLs. Measurements are combined directly into daily counters and cannot be used by us to recognize a returning browser.

Storage And Retention

Local fishing records remain in the app until you delete them or remove its local data. Your device backup or restore settings may retain a separate copy. Depth Vector does not provide cloud backup of these records.

Account, trial, purchase access, and sharing choice records are kept as needed to provide those services. Optional shared records are kept for the improvement purposes you selected until deletion is requested or they are no longer needed. Support correspondence is kept as needed to handle the request and related follow up.

Account deletion removes your account, recovery email when present, and associated information stored online. We also request deletion of your customer record from our purchase management provider. Limited records of upload problems may remain after the connection to your app installation is removed. These records are scheduled for deletion once they are older than 30 days. Store purchase records remain subject to Apple’s or Google’s retention policies. Provider logs and backups are subject to their retention settings and legal obligations.

Information sent to our online service is encrypted during transfer and while stored there. Fishing records kept on your device are stored within the app and are not separately encrypted by Depth Vector. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure.

Your Choices And Requests

We may need to verify that a request concerns your account. We will respond within the time required by applicable law. We cannot retrieve fishing records that exist only on your device.

Children

Depth Vector is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided information, contact us so we can investigate and remove it as appropriate.

Changes And Contact

We will post policy changes here with an updated date and provide notice of material changes in the app as appropriate.
